SUN PRINTING WORKSHOP

Learn the simple art of sun printing with Andy from the DIY Craft Bar and Garyth Bevan... Garyth is a Visual Communicator and Photography lecturer at the Stellenbosch Academy.

We will teach you two EXCITING printing processes using the sun as your main element.

Lumen Print, which is a solar photogram, is a camera-less process using black and white photographic paper and your subject matter. Cyanotype on the other hand, is a process using a combination of two chemicals, which are combined in equal parts. The  result gives a striking image against a background of cyan / blue. This process can be used to make clothes, wall art, decor, scarves and so many more possibilities.

We will also briefly teach you how to transform your lumen prints into something spectacular using photoshop.

No previous experience is required

What to Bring

We will be providing some organic materials, stencils and fabric for you to create your prints, but we encourage you to bring your own grasses, leaves, flowers, lace, doilies, stencils, transparencies or anything you believe will add to your prints.

Please bring an apron. Disposable gloves will be provided.

DIY Kits will be available to purchase on the day at R 350.00 each. 

The kit includes enough product to make 200ml total solution, which will cover approximately 80 x A4 pages. Also includes a measuring beaker, gloves, instructional leaflet, measuring spoon and test pages.
